As a child, Rei played shogi often with Masachika, who was a friend of Rei's biological father. Rei picks up Momo from daycare as a favor from Akari. On their way home, Momo gets hurt after crossing paths with a barking white dog, prompting Rei to rescue her. Rei begins to break down after cleaning up Momo's wounds.
